A GOAL deep, deep in injury time saw Harriers beaten on the road as they went down 1-0 at Gainsborough Trinity.
Nicky Walker clipped the ball in off the post to condemn the reds to a third successive defeat, just as it looked like the team would have to settle for a point on what was already a frustrating enough afternoon.
Up until that point the two teams had shared an even number of chances, with James Pearson going closest for the visitors, seeing a header cleared off the line and a shot well saved within the space of a few second-half seconds.
Harriers had been far busier in front of goal in the first period, with Dan Bradley, Elton Ngwatala and Ryan Croasdale all going close - the best of the efforts coming from the Frenchman as he capped a rapid passing move with a drive that saw the ball inch past the target.
Dec Weeks also went close as he forced a spill from goalkeeper Ravas with a free-kick, with Harriers staying in the ascendancy immediately after the restart as Pearson's double effort ended with a superb tip over the bar from Ravas.
But while Harriers kept the target ticking over with chances, the hosts also edged further into the game and had a gilt-edged chance through the head of Stainfield as he nodded wide from just a few yards out.
It was end-to-end until the finish - the late danger from the visitors coming from Waring and Bradley, until the killer blow arrived four minutes into added time at the end of the game as Walker raced on to a deep ball before finishing low and on the angle, finding the net off the post.

It’s a big game at both ends of the table. The reds are keen for more points towards their play-off push, while Trinity are in need of a victory to boost their survival fortunes.
For Harriers especially, this is a match that’s been a while in the making – two full weeks to be exact since they lost 2-1 at Darlington.
That was the team’s first back-to-back set of defeats since the summer, so Waring knows that it’s time to bounce back.
What’s more, they’ll need to find their shooting boots to do so after missing chances in both of those losses.
“After a defeat last time out, the lads were looking to get back out there and put a performance in,” George told our YouTube channel.
“So, to have the games called off was frustrating, and hopefully we’ll get up there on Saturday and will be raring to go.
“We needed to be more clinical [against Harrogate and Darlington]; we conceded a couple of bad goals at bad times.
“We’ve analysed it and we have a plan to put it right on Saturday.”
Lee Sinnott takes charge of his first home game as Holy Blues boss on Saturday after recently taking the helm there.
Waring, on loan from Tranmere Rovers, added: “I am sure it will be a tough game to go and it will be a battle of a game, so we’ll have to be up for that.

“We’ve got 12 games left now so we’re concentrating on one game at a time, but from the next five particularly we want to get a good run of going.”
Waring made a big impact on arriving at Aggborough, netting off the bench for a goal on his debut, while following up with the wining goal at Curzon Ashton soon after.
With top scorer Joe Ironside on 18 and other forwards itching for their chance, the former Barnsley player knows it is a key time for Aggborough’s front men.
“We’ve got good competition up front at the minute which is healthy for the team.
“All of us need to be ready come the end of the season now to play our part and take our chances, and I’m sure we will do.
“That’s only good for the squad.”
Boss John Eustace confirmed this week that Brandon Hall and Jimmy O’Connor will be missing for this game as they battle respective thigh and Achilles injuries.
Joel Taylor, having missed the team’s last few matches, is also doubtful.
Kick-off at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
