Harriers go up against one of the best sides in the league in Forest Green Rovers on Saturday (5:15pm) – that’s the verdict of boss Steve Burr.
Recent history may remember Rovers as perennial strugglers in the top level of non-league football and only retaining their place in the standings on an end-of-season technicality.
But those days seemingly are long gone as, with substantial off-field backing, Rovers have established themselves as one of the favourites for promotion this term – if not the title.
They’re locked in a battle for play-off positions as we speak, below Harriers by just one place on goal difference.
They’ve picked up some fine results and among those was a 1-0 win at Aggborough early on in the term – their performance that afternoon was one that boss Burr has kept in his mind.
Ahead of the return visit, Burr told Harriers Player: “They’re having a good season and they should be – they’ve had a lot of financial input into the club and into the team.
“Dave Hockaday has brought some really good players in there and we know how difficult it will be.
“They came here [in August] and were probably, I felt, the best team to come to Aggborough this season.
“They had a bit of fortune on the day to get the win but they are a good side.”
Harriers are fortunately without any real injury worries – Josh Gowling played through the Hereford game on Boxing Day with a thigh injury and is okay.
Callum Gittings is back available while Danny Pilkington is making sound progress on his recovery and isn’t thought to be too far away.
Kick-off at the New Lawn on Saturday is 5:15pm.
Steve Burr’s exclusive video interview is now available to watch on Harriers Player.
