Sonupe double nets win at United

A first win of the term for Harriers….

Emmanuel Sonupé

MANNY SONUPE struck a brace as Harriers deservedly picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 success at FC United of Manchester.

The home side had the lead inside seven minutes as Harriers started on shaky ground, Danny Wisdom turning the ball home at a corner.

But as the match wore on the confidence grew and, on 20 minutes, Sonupe beautifully headed in a Bradley cross to level things up – before going close with another effort before the break that he nodded on to the bar.

Joe Ironside has been tireless so far this season but luck was against him as he stabbed wide from close range, following up after Ryan Croasdale had seen a shot well saved.

The second half was almost all Harriers and after Ngwatala, Daly, McQuilkin and Andre Brown had all gone close, Sonupe finally gave his team a deserved lead in the final ten minutes as he cleverly tucked home from another McQuilkin delivery.
