Aggborough Stadium will be the venue of international football once again tonight as England U17s face Italy U17s in the St George’s Park Tournament 2017.
This friendly tournament incorporates four international U17s teams; England, Italy, Turkey and Scotland. England have played two of their three tournament matches so far and picked up six points in the process, winning 3-2 against Turkey and beating Scotland 2-1. Their opponents tonight have also achieved maximum points from their two matches, beating Scotland 2-1 and winning against Turkey 2-0. Italy currently top the tournament table on goal difference.
Matches in this tournament can’t end as a draw so will automatically go to a penalty shootout if the 80-minute match can’t separate the two sides.
Due to the UEFA U17 European Championships Finals taking place in May 2018, the 2017/18 season will consist of qualification and elite rounds throughout the season. However, as hosts of the finals, England gain automatic qualification so will spend the season preparing in various international tournaments.
The match is a 7:00pm kick-off, and entry is just £3 for adults and £1.50 for concessions. Come along to watch some of the potential stars of the future!
