FRESH after netting his first career goals against Blyth Spartans, James Pearson is eyeing this weekend’s FA Cup trip to Newcastle Benfield.
The former Leicester City man has enjoyed an eventful start to life at Aggborough.
Signed just hours in advance of the 4-2 win at Deeping Rangers in the last round of the Cup, he made his home debut against Spartans last time out.
His home debut a week later against Spartans proved to be a thrill-a-minute affair as the reds picked up three important points.
The player himself admits to being hungry for more progress in the league this weekend, but the reds are instead slated for key FA Cup duty in the north east.
He quipped: “That’s the one disappointing thing; once you get a win in the league you want to go again and keep winning games!
“But we’re looking forward to the weekend.
“We’ll go up there and be strong and put out a good account of ourselves.
“Hopefully we can get into the next round.”
Pearson’s Aggborough bow proved to be an entertaining affair to say the least.
The defender was understandably unhappy about the four goals Harriers conceded on the day, but was thrilled to have helped contribute towards the win by scoring a brace of the team’s five.

Perhaps surprisingly, those were the first goals of the ex-Coventry man’s professional career.
He added: “I’d not scored before so it was good to get a couple!
“It was more important to get three points and to help the team.
“I had not played in a big-scoring game like that before.
“It was just important that we stuck to our guns and didn’t concede at the end; they were putting pressure on in the last five minutes and I thought we were superb then.”
