HARRIERS will meet York City in the First Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy after a comfortable 2-0 replay win over Boston United at Aggborough.
Goals from Elton Ngwatala and Joe Ironside – one in each half – were enough to seal safe passage through for Harriers who, on the whole, were largely untroubled on the night.
The reds were among the chances early – Brown saw a shot blocked before Ironside’s effort was well parried by Willis. The re-worked ball was kept by Ngwatala who dazzled past his man before firing in at the near post.
McGuire volleyed off target for Boston midway through the half, but the hosts remained in the ascendancy with both skipper Croasdale and Ironside testing the reactions of Willis before Ngwatala nearly added a second with a header that was blocked behind.
Before the break, Austin cut inside and drew another save from Willis before Ironside once again was denied by a deflection – much as he was with just eight played in the second period.
Soon after, Hemmings might well have done better when in space as he hit off target, Harriers punishing them with the second goal six minutes later an McQuilkin’s pinpoint delivery was powered home by Ironside’s head.
Hall gathered well from McGuire on the hour but Harriers continued to push forward as well as staying solid at the back, sub Sonupe almost making it three with his near-post finish seven after the hour.
One of the best pieces of defending on the night saw Horsfall get back to superbly block Thompson’s effort – a clean sheet hard-earned as the boys saw out the win.
