Boss reacts as reds clinch play-off berth

John Eustace on Harriers being ‘fortunate’ to have picked up three points to secure a play-off place….

Kidderminster Harriers Manager John Eustace

JOHN Eustace was thrilled to see his players secure a play-off spot this season after admitting Harriers enjoyed a touch of fortune in beating Tamworth on Saturday.

Goals from Joe Ironside and Elton Ngwatala sealed a 2-0 victory over the Lambs at Aggborough.

Coupled with results elsewhere, the win means the team will be playing football in the play-offs for the second successive season.

After seeing his team have to rebuild once during the summer and change dramatically before the autumn was out, Eustace wasn’t underestimating the size of the achievement.

“It’s a fantastic achievement for the club and for the lads and they fully deserve it,” he reflected.

“It has been a long season after re-building the squad. We had a really poor start to the season but the lads have stuck together.

“The squad has grown and got stronger and we’re delighted to be in the play-offs.” John Eustace

“The squad has grown and got stronger and we’re delighted to be in the play-offs.”

Harriers found themselves under plenty of pressure against relegation-threatened Tamworth, especially early on.

The gaffer admitted: “We were really fortunate today – in the first half Tamworth were the much better team.

“Luckily for us they didn’t take their chances and we have a top goalkeeper in there in Brandon Hall – he was magnificent today and we are very fortunate he was on our team.

“In the second half we controlled the game better… we have good players out there and it is nice that we are taking our chances now whereas a times during the season we’ve needed lots and lots of chances to score.

“We’re getting more clinical and hopefully it will continue.”
