Football figures gather for students

Aggborough recently hosted an informative taster evening for young footballers and students…

Harriers Academy students and those close to them got another insight into life as part of the Harriers family at a recent information evening.

The Aggborough Suite welcomed prospective students and players as well as a range of guest speakers for the event, which detailed some of what goes into becoming a young footballer – or indeed having a career within the game in general.

Chairman Colin Gordon and COO Adam Crowle discussed their careers and the huge wealth of opportunities afforded to those looking to start on the pathway here at Harriers.

They were joined by Premier League referee Matt Wilkes who talked about his initial hopes for a career as a player before detailing his intriguing switch to refereeing and where that has taken him since.

Also in attendance to speak to those assembled was former Harriers striker Steve Guinan – also a former Harriers Academy Manager – who now works for the PFA in the latest role of his hugely-varied and influential career.

We’d like to thank all of those who joined us for the informative event – if you’d like more information about how you might be able to enjoy a career in the game by joining Harriers and their comprehensive Further and Higher Education programmes in partnership with BMet, you can get in touch with Adam.
