Boss hopeful on Harriers pair

Boss Neil MacFarlane offers an update on missing pair after Saturday’s game…

Joe Ironside

HARRIERS should be able to welcome back striker Joe Ironside and summer signing James Baxendale to pre-season this week.

The two were absent from Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at Aggborough as they manage slight knocks.

Complaints arising from hardened surfaces and training conditions meant that the pair – who’ve otherwise enjoyed a full pre-season – were rested for the visit of the Championship side.

However, boss Neil MacFarlane hopes to utilise the duo during one or both of this weekend’s pre-season friendly matches at Aggborough against Burton Albion (Tuesday) or Birmingham City (Saturday.)

“We’re in a situation where they haven’t torn or pulled anything,” said the gaffer.

“Conditions have just meant that things are tight and sore for them so we’re just managing that and trying to build them up.

“It’s a little break for them but hopefully [they’ll be back] for Tuesday or, if not, then against Birmingham on Saturday.”
