Harriers warmed up for this weekend’s big SSE Women’s FA Cup clash with Solihull Moors by putting six past Coventry City in the league.
The handsome victory completed a very early double for Harriers over the Sky Blues; the Reds winning comfortably despite not hitting the heights of some recent games in terms of performance levels.
In tricky conditions it was Harriers who took the lead through Molly Maguire’s lob, an advantage the team then doubled through the in-form Amber Lawrence who netted from close range.
Maguire’s crossed to Sophie Richards who finished to ensure the team were 3-0 up at the break, but the score line didn’t reflect the true nature of the game which saw the visitors rack up numerous chances.
Alex Nicklin and Kirsty Roberts added goals of their own to make it five and keep Harriers in cruise control. A consolation effort did arrive for the home side but it was an effort swiftly cancelled out by Lawrence’s second of the day – the team’s sixth.
The victory maintains an excellent start to the campaign for Harriers, who next play on Sunday, 7th September when they entertain Solihull Moors at Aggborough. Kick-off is at 3:00pm and admission for all is £3 adults and £1 concessions.
