HARRIERS saw their remarkable SSE Women’s FA Cup campaign come to an end as they lost 6-1 to Wolves at Aggborough.

Playing against a side doing superbly in the league two levels above, Harriers took their time to find their feet in the first half but held their own.

Hakeman’s fine goal-line clearance denied Anslow with five minutes gone, with Hannah Trowmans in goal diving to palm away a shot ten minutes further on.

Harriers’ best chance of the half by some distance came from a corner on 21 minutes when an expert delivery from Roberts found the head of Nicklin, but her effort was over the bar.

Seven minutes later the opening goal came in fine style for Wolves, Haynes driving powerfully and from some distance, the ball taking flight and arrowing into Tromans’ top corner.

Tromans was needed again seven after the restart when she did well to block a George shot, but she was helpless to prevent a Wolves second minutes later when Barnett beat the offside trap and kept her composure, striding through the Harriers half before slotting home.

The third followed swiftly, Price reacting well to sweep home a loose ball in the area, George’s curling attempt from 20 yards threatening to make it 4-0 before Trowmans turned the ball aside.

On 71 minutes a looping shot from Lawrence kept Wolves stopper Clarke alert, but Wolves did get that fourth six minutes later when a superb through ball played Cross into the area, her low pass turned home by Jennings at close range.

Jennings added the firth with just six to play, staying switched on as the ball cannoned off the bar to take a touch and roll an angled finish into the bottom corner.

There was a moment to savour for Harriers and Lawrence two minutes later, the Reds on the scoresheet with a superbly-taken free-kick that rose over the wall and past the hand of Clarke.

The visitors rounded off the scoring in the final moment with Edwards’ cute side-foot finish finding the corner of the net.
