Chairman Colin Gordon has outlined the strengths he feels new manager Mark Yates will bring to the Aggborough hot-seat.
Yates returned to the club on Monday as boss, almost ten years after departing Worcestershire for Cheltenham Town.
He arrives with 14 games of the National League North season to go and with the side still handily placed to take a shot at the play-offs.
Colin, who had been overseeing team affairs, made it clear that the 49-year-old’s qualities are a sound match for the situation the team finds itself in.
“The important thing for Mark is that he knows the league,” he said.
“He knows the kind of players that can have an effect on this team and this league.
“…He’ll be a fantastic addition to us…” Colin Gordon on Mark Yates
“He’ll be a fantastic addition to us, I’m sure.
“I think [he has] a mixture of professional knowledge, organisation and qualification, against a knowledge of the level, an understanding of what it takes to win matches at this level.”
Of the end-of-season run-in, Colin added: “We’re two thirds of the way through a campaign.
“The first third was okay – we got a decent number of points.
“The second third has been a disaster, and now we have a final third; 14 games to go where we can start to be more like us, be more aggressive and try to put as many points on the board as we possibly can.
“But you can only do that one step at a time.”
