JIMMY O’CONNOR was pleased by the manner with which Harriers overcame the challenge of Nuneaton Borough on Saturday.
The Reds stormed to a 4-1 win at Aggborough against the division’s bottom club.
It comes after a number of defeats for the team against sides in that position at Aggborough this season.
With that in mind, there may have been one or two nerves when Borough levelled matters at 1-1 in the first half.
No wonder, then, that player-coach O’Connor was so pleased to see the team up their came to clinch the decisive win.
“There’s a lot of belief there.
“When you go 1-0 up against bottom of the league and you get pegged back, it can go two ways.
!It was never going to be an easy game and we had to make sure we put them under the pressure…” Jimmy O’Connor
“The lads got in at half time and we didn’t panic.
“We knew we had to do second half, we had to push on and put pressure on them.
“We did that from minute one and we ended up coming away with a comfortable win.”
The former Walsall man added: “We’re well aware that we’ve had some poor results against those sides who’re down the bottom.
“Nuneaton came full of energy, vigor and hard work, and anything you’d expect from any team.
“It was never going to be an easy game and we had to make sure we put them under the pressure to [ensure] we got the result we ended up getting.”
