AFTER re-signing with the club, Declan Weeks is adamant he wants to help Harriers “right the wrongs” of the season just ended.

The talented midfielder penned a new, one-year contract at Aggborough this week.

It comes after a season of contrast for both player and team.

While making over 30 starts during the term, Weeks still found his campaign disrupted by injuries – resulting in what he feels was a lack of consistency on his part.

Harriers, meanwhile, failed to capitalise on a strong start to the season and ended up outside the play-offs.

“It has been a very disappointing season,” reflected Weeks, who first signed for Harriers in the summer of 2018.

“We [need] to come back hungry and looking to win.” Declan Weeks

“Finishing tenth, as a full-time team – that’s not where we want to be.

“Personally, I haven’t been as consistent as consistent as I would have liked, so it is time to right the wrongs next season and get promoted.

“After the [2017-18 season], I’ve seen how good this club can be and how much of a feel-good place it can be.

“We just want to get back to that now, focus on getting the team right and, hopefully, winning the league.”

Pressed on how Harriers can go about managing such a turnaround, Weeks added: “Well, it’s standards, isn’t it?

“You go away, have a nice break and keep yourself fit, then come back and have that winning mentality next year.

“We [need] to come back hungry and looking to win.”
