HARRIERS kicked off pre-season on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Stratford Town.
Andre Brown's second half penalty was cancelled out by the hosts within minutes in what was a tough first workout for the boys.
Fielding a different XI in each half, boss John Eustace kept a keen eye on his charges as they set about putting into practice their first week of work.
In the first half, Elton Ngwatala had the best of the chances for the visitors with efforts that were well parried, while on-trial striker Jordan Murphy struck just wide.
The hosts had their openings and Richard Gregory went closest with an attempt that dragged just wide of the far post at the end of the first half.
Quick feet soon after the restart from Ousmane Fane earned Harriers a penalty, which summer signing Brown duly dispatched in style, into the top corner of the net.
However, Gregory pulled Stratford level when, having seen a penalty saved up at the other end, eventually tucked home the rebound.
The lively Sam Austin and a marauding Tyrone Williams went close to adding a second for Harriers in the final minutes, with Stratford denied late on thanks to a last-ditch recovery tackle from Wayne Thomas.
Up next for Harriers is the home fixture against West Bromwich Albion next Saturday (16th, 3pm).
