KHFC fans once again have their walking boots out in aid of a good local cause today (Firday) and Saturday.
It all started back in April 2014 when around 50 KHFC fans walked 65 miles in two days in memory of former Supporters Trust chairman Steve Millington for Macmillan Cancer Support. Nearly £40,000 was raised by those that walked from Kidderminster to Forest Green (near Stroud).
Then once again in April 2015 a similar number walked 35 miles in one day from Kidderminster to Telford. This time the walk was in memory of Charlotte May Pountney and raised £20,000 for loal charity Towards Tomorrow Together that supports families following baby loss.
This time they will walk from Kidderminster to Cheltenham over two days. The majority of the group will depart Kidderminster at 6am on Friday and walk the 36 miles to Tewkesbury mainly along the River Severn. Then on Saturday morning the party will walk/hobble the remaining 12 miles to Cheltenham Town Football Club in time for the Kidderminster Harriers fixture.
The more energetic members of the group will even play in a fans Football match against Gloucester City fans on Saturday morning on the way to the Harriers fixture. Former Harriers player John Finnegan will play in the match that will raise funds for the charity.
This time the group of 56 walkers will do so for for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity to Fight Skin Cancer. The walk is being done in memory of Becky Giddens who sadly lost her fight with skin cancer in August 2016. She received fantastic support from the QE. She was a well known and popular person around the local area. Many people knew her either from her teaching PE at King Charles 1 High school or through sport. Netball and earlier football the two main sports she had been involved in. Both Becky's parents also volunteer at Kidderminster Harriers on a matchday.
The group are fast approaching their £10,000 target. You can donate via the walk justgiving page - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/KHFC-Supporters
