Young goalkeeper Dean Lyness looks set to leave Aggborough this week in favour of a move to the Football League.
'Deano', who featured for Harriers last season, was re-engaged at the end of the term and was set to compete with Danny Lewis for the goalkeeping jersey at Aggborough.
Boss Steve Burr has, however, confirmed today that League 2 side Burton Albion look set to secure the player's signature on a deal in the next few days.
Should the deal go through, Harriers would be due compensation as Dean is under the age of 24.
"It will be a big blow to lose Dean and nobody will be more disappointed than me because he is a very good goalkeeper.
"But I can understand that this is a fantastic opportunity for Dean to move into the League and we obviously wish him well."
Burr confirmed yesterday that midfielder Dan Bradley is set to depart in similar circumstances.
He added: "As I've said, this is a disappointment but Dan obviously feels that the competition we have in midfield here could possibly mean that his chances are restricted.
"He was part of our plans but, again, we move forward."
