CHAIRMAN: Norgrove on Penn Speculation

Posted on: Thu 02 Jul 2009

CHAIRMAN Barry Norgrove has described a newspaper report linking Russell Penn with a move away from Aggborough as 'pure speculation.'

A report in one publication states that midfielder Penn could be set to depart Harriers for League Two newcomers and last season's Blue Square Premier Champions Burton Albion.

Speaking to harriers.co.uk this lunchtime he repeated the sentiments published in the story by saying: "There is nothing to report at the moment and it's purely speculation at this stage.

"We have said ever since we took over the club that we will never actively look to sell any player, but were an offer to come in to us that is too good to turn down then we owe it to the club to at least consider it, and I think supporters can understand that view.

"Russell is a big player us and we do not want to lose him. At one stage Burton suggested they were interested in him but since them haven't really come back to us with anything that would make us consider a deal, it's very much dropped off.

"Of course, Russ is an ambitious lad and we would never stand in his way if he ever wanted to progress but it would only be done the deal was in the best interests of Kidderminster Harriers."

Penn joined up with the rest of the squad for the start of pre-season training yesterday with the new season a little over a month away.
