CHAIRMAN: Norgrove Eyes Big Four's Fans

Posted on: Wed 07 Oct 2009

Football fans of the Midlands are being urged to use the International break wisely this weekend - by supporting Kidderminster Harriers as they continue their Blue Square Premier play-off push.

England's World Cup Qualifying commitments on Saturday evening and next Wednesday mean that there is no football in the Premier League or Coca Cola Championship this coming weekend.

As such, fans of the 'big' clubs in the Midlands, the likes of Wolves, Birmingham City, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion, will all be without live action.

But they needn't lose out, altogether. The season is running along strongly at Harriers, who play through the international break in the Blue Square Premier, namely with this Saturday's huge game with Luton Town at Aggborough.

The biggest crowd of the season by some distance is expected for the tie, which will see two of the early-season play-off contenders lock horns.

And with the visiting Hatters expected to be backed by huge travelling support, those fans without a game are being called upon to back the red and white halves to ensure the singing battle is as intense as the clash on the pitch.

"None of the Premier League or Championship clubs in the area have a game this weekend so we'd love to see a few of them up at Aggborough," Chairman Barry Norgrove told harriers.co.uk.

"Having three Premier League sides and one fighting for promotion back into that League right on our doorstep has always left us a bit in their shadow.

"We always want as many people from the Midlands to come and support us but it goes without saying that those sort of clubs have a much bigger fan base.

"So we want them to come out and support one of their local teams on Saturday and come down for our game.

"Although they've had a change of Manager, Luton have still started very well and we've steadily climbed up the table in the last few weeks, too.

"It's going to be a good match and we're hopeful of a good crowd - so anyone without a match to watch on Saturday knows where to come!"
