NORGROVE: Boss to Know BSP
Chairman Barry Norgrove is eyeing a head of Blue Square Premier experience as he continues the process of searching for a new club manager over the next week.
Speaking as part of an in-depth interview with your official website today, Norgrove said that the next man to take up the helm at Aggborough would ideally know the division 'inside out'.
Applications have poured into the club ever since Mark Yates' departure was confirmed earlier this month and it's obvious there is no shortage of takers for the hot-seat here at Aggborough.
But keen to take his time, Norgrove has stressed that the new man must be chosen wisely and, in his personal opinion, must have plenty of experience.
"This is not the board's opinion, just mine, but I think we need someone who is at the level of the Blue Square Premier or there or there abouts," he said.
"We can't attract players from higher Leagues and sustain those sorts of finances in the way that a big-name manager would want.
"There are a lot of managers who would want to come and do well and build praise back up for themselves but I think we need somebody knows the Blue Square Premier inside out."
The Board are set to meet next Tuesday after setting a deadline of Monday for written applications for the post.
It is hoped that interviews can be carried out towards the latter part of next week, with a potential appointment to be made the week following.
Whatever the exact timetable, things are about to heat up.
"We need to break it right down to a reasonable amount on Tuesday so that we can start interviewing," he added.
"By then we'll know if John [Finnigan] is interested because we'll bring him into the frame as well.
"We have a lot to do next week and we want to know which way we're going to go."
