Barry Norgrove was a happy man after finally getting Steve Burr in place as his new manager at Aggborough today.
Steve Burr's appointment as the new Harriers boss brings to an end close to a month's worth of speculation, gossip, rumour, snow, stress and plenty more!
So understandably, when he spoke to harriers.co.uk this afternoon, he was more than content to have finally got everything in place having stuck to his guns and got his man.
"It's been a long job but we have finally got there and we are very pleased to have Steve with us," he said.
"I am sure he will do really well for us - he is an outstanding manager with some really good contacts.
"He is involved with the England C set-up and so knows a lot about the younger players coming through this League and we definitely feel he is the one for us.
"There were some very, very strong applicants and we interviewed and listened to everything that they had to say to us, but once it became clear it was possible for us to reach an agreement that would allow him to come here, that was what we were going to do.
Norgrove went on to express his gratitude and admiration for his opposite number at Stalybridge, from who Burr has moved today.
He does not envy the difficult position that Rob Gorski now finds himself in, but he can certainly sympathise with it.
He continued: "I do feel for Stalybridge's position because I know what it is like - we said that we did not want Mark Yates to leave us back in December as he had done a wonderful job for us, but it was right for him at the time.
"These things happen and I can understand a lot of people at Stalybridge feeling upset - but I should say that their Chairman Rob Gorski has worked extremely hard for his club and done extremely well, and their fans should know that.
"They are very much there or there abouts in the promotion race in the North and it is not ideal for them that he has come to us at this time, I can fully understand that."
Harriers have paid a 'substantial' amount by way of compensation to the Blue Square North outfit in order to secure the services of their new manager.
It is Norgrove's hope that this can put to bed any remaining doubts people may have that, popular or unpopular, all decisions he makes are with the heart of the club in mind.
"I keep hearing that I have no ambition - that this football club has got no ambition," he went on to say.
"Nobody more than me wants to see this club back into the Football League and I think the work we've done over the last number of weeks proves that.
"I hope the supporters will be happy with the appointment we've made and I hope it shows that we will always do what is best for this club.
"We've taken some decisions in the past that have not been popular - for the very best of this club, and today's news, which I see as a real positive, is no different.
"Steve has the right connections and knows so much about the game - it's easier to say what and who he doesn't know, rather than what and who he does know.
"We do not have pots and pots of money that we can just throw around the place but Steve knows how to find good, hungry players who will be right for this club and who will come here and do well for us.
"I will only ever run this club properly - things are and have always been tight but everything we do has to be financially sound. If we cannot afford something, we do not have it - it is that simple.
"I absolutely will not run this club in to debt, but we want to give Steve a chance to prove what he can do with the players here and any he may want to bring in - and we will."
