Fez: My Best Game Yet
Andy Ferrell is calling on Harriers to re-produce their performance from Rushden on Monday when Paul Tisdale's Exeter come to town at the weekend.
Ferrell was a huge part of the 1-0 success at Nene Park on Bank Holiday as Harriers picked up just their second win of the season.
Now, up against the Grecians at Aggborough this coming Saturday, 'Fez' is determined that he and the side will make Monday's victory count for something by getting a result against high-flying City.
"There's no point in us putting in a great performance on Monday and beating Rushden if we're just going to suffer another set-back against Exeter, it's important we keep going," he told harriers.co.uk today.
"If you want to be the best you have to beat the best and Exeter are one of the strongest sides in the division so we're looking forward to it."
Ferrell has won the praise of Harriers' management and supporters for his efforts on Monday as he finally begins to settle into the side after his summer move from Hereford United.
"I thought it was my best game personally since I've been here," the midfielder admitted.
"I don't think I played very well in the last friendly and against Aldershot and the gaffer left me out for a couple of games which I think probably did me good, I came back hungry on Monday.
"As a team I thought I we were fantastic and now we've got to make sure we keep building on it."
Gavin Hurren played alongside Ferrell for Harriers at Rushden with Russ Penn deployed on the right flank as part of a new four-man midfield with Michael Blackwood on the left.
The duo central players were solid in their decision making against Gary Hill's side whilst the two players either side of them also looked dangerous, with Penn grabbing the only goal of the game.
On his partnership with Hurren, Ferrell added: "I thought we did well together and had a good understanding - we knew when to go forward and when to sit back, if he missed his tackle I would be there and if I missed a header he'd be there for the second ball and Russ did magnificently out wide too, as a team we performed well.
"There' s competition all the way through the squad and players like Michael McGrath and Jon Munday who haven't been on the bench for the past couple of games are capable of coming in too so there's a lot going for every place in the team."
