Andy Ferrell has delivered a frank and honest assessment of Harriers' season by insisting the side just 'aren't good enough' following Saturday's defeat to Salisbury.

Midfielder Ferrell, arguably one of the squad's most consistent performers, delivered the damning verdict following the 2-1 reverse, Harriers' sixth home league defeat of the campaign.

Speaking to harriers.co.uk, he said: "For the first 20 minutes I thought we were superb but after that it was just a lazy, lazy performance.

"We switched off for both goals and it's the story of our season - not good enough."

Harriers dominated possession in the second half, and put together countless chances without doing enough to hurt the away side.

Ferrell went on to say that the team should've been expected to dominate given their strong early position in the game, but rued the concentration that saw the result slip from reach.

"We couldn't create much more but you expect, when you're at home to control the game once you're one-up anyway," he added.

"The goals summed up our season, a lack of concentration.

"Two long balls beat us and that shouldn't happen, and their second goal came from our throw in inside our own box - the gaffer is unhappy about that and that's understandable."

The former Hereford United midfielder, still troubled by an injury picked up close to a fortnight ago, was taken off in the second half.

It's a rare thing that Ferrell doesn't finish a 90 minutes but, although he admitted the injury made things difficult, he had few complaints about the decision.

"I wanted to be able to play last week when I was nowhere near and I wanted to play today, when perhaps I wasn't 100%," he revealed.

"But I'll never use that as an excuse.

"Obviously I was disappointed to be taken off but if I were the manager I'd have taken me off as well."
