MIDFIELDER Andy Ferrell has backed striker Justin Richards to be amongst the goals for Harriers this season after the ex-Peterborough man notched his first of the term against Lewes today.

Richards scored seven times for Harriers in the first half of last season, before going out on loan to Oxford United.

Now back in the Aggborough fold, he found the back of the net after 22 minutes today as Mark Yates' men started off with a 1-1 draw against The Rooks.

Speaking to harriers.co.uk, Ferrell stated that his team-mate can use today's goal as a springboard for success throughout the rest of the campaign.

"Justin had a lot of chances today but you never mind that because if you don't shoot, you don't score," he said.

"I'm really pleased that he's scored today - rather than him having to go six or seven games without that first goal.

"Hopefully he can build on that and score a few for us over the course of the season, as we hope Knightsy and Barnsey can too."

Ferrell went on to admit that the whole side can take something from today's game to build on ahead of two successive away games, against Cambridge United and Mansfield Town.

"We're all frustrated; we might consider it two points dropped rather than one gained but we're already a point better off than we were after the first game last season.

"And credit to Lewes, they didn't just come here and defend for 90 minutes - they got the ball down and played a bit.

"We're just a bit disappointed not to have won - but we can take a point and build on it on Tuesday."
