Harriers are pleased to confirm that winger David McDermott has signed up for the new season at Aggborough by penning a new one-year contract.

Lively local-lad McDermott first joined Harriers last summer after leaving Walsall and made 29 appearances for the club in 2008/09, scoring once.

Blessed with great pace and an ability to beat defenders, McDermott was largely used as an impact sub by boss Mark Yates, but there's little doubting the youngster will be looking to make an even bigger impression this time around.

Your official website caught up with the player soon after the deal was done, with Macca telling harriers.co.uk that he's happy to be staying - but he is indeed eyeing up more football in his second year at Aggborough.

He said: "I'm pleased it's been sorted - if I could use one word to describe last season it would be 'frustrating'; so I'm really looking forward to getting a chance to show what I can do this season.

"Last time around I would have liked to have played a lot more but whereas I sort of threw in the towel when I was at Walsall and not being played, at Kidderminster I've just made sure I stayed fit and knuckled down.

"In the games I played I think I did well, but I've got a lot more to show people."

Back in training today, he couldn't be happier.

He adds: "Once we'd been off for a week at the end of April I was ready to come back, so it was good to get out there today!"
