BYRNE IN: Youngster Completes Deal

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010

Harriers have completed a deal to sign highly-rated midfielder Jack Byrne from Blue Square North side Redditch United.

The 20 year-old as been one of United's stand-out performers since breaking through into the side in the second half of last season following a move from Stratford Town.

This term he's gone on to add goals to his game and his efforts have certainly been catching the eye of Harriers boss Steve Burr who has swooped to tie up the youngster's services on a deal until the end of the season.

Burr has made it clear that his newest signing has the chance to impress with a view to earning another contract for next season - and it is obvious that he's an admirer of the youngster's talents.

"Jack is someone who has always done very well in the past against teams I've taken to play Redditch, he's stuck out," said Burr.

"He's been training with us for a couple of weeks now and we think he is one for the future.

"Obviously we can give him the chance to come here but the rest is down to him.

"Hopefully he can continue the way he has been playing at Redditch and hopefully we can improve him."

Byrne, who takes the number 27 shirt, goes straight into the match day squad that will travel today (Friday) in preparation for tomorrow's game at Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier.

Meanwhile, Harriers and Barrow have agreed a new date for their outstanding Blue Square Premier fixture at Holker Street. We'll now go there on Thursday, 8 April 2010, 7:45pm.
