Steve Burr has confirmed to your official website this afternoon that Harriers have tabled an offer to winger Brian Smikle for next season.
Top scorer Smikle is one of several players out of contract at the conclusion of this Blue Square Premier season, and the club is moving quickly in their attempts to keep him on board.
Burr told harriers.co.uk: "We have spoken to Brian about the fact that we would like to keep him here for next season.
"I have put an offer to his advisor which I feel is a really good offer from what we are going to be able to spend next season.
"As a club we feel it is important to keep the best players we have here at the club and Brian falls in to that category.
"He is an important part of the club and he is very well liked here. He has had a good season in terms of goals and he is aware we'd like to keep him.
"We have put the offer out there and ultimately the decision rests with him in regards to what he would like to do.
"It is now a question of waiting for Brian and his advisor to come back to us but we have made it clear that we need a decision quite quickly so that we can move on depending or not he feels the offer is favourable to him."
Burr went on to state that he is continuing in discussions with the rest of the Harriers squad, as well as receiving attentions from players outside the club.
"I am already getting a lot of calls from people who want to come and play here," he added.
"But as we have said, it will be key that we spread what we have around as best as possible to keep performing on the park.
"Over the next couple of weeks we will be speaking to all of the players about the situation and where we see their positions."
