Harriers have given their stretched squad a boost today with the signing of Leicester City youngster Aman Verma on a one-month loan deal.
With injury concerns over a number of players and with boss Steve Burr always looking to strengthen, the attack-minded utility player has arrived at Aggborough from the Championship side ahead of the weekend trip to Newport County in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
23 years-old, Verma began his career in the Foxes' youth system before leaving after failing to earn a deal, going on to feature for Bedworth and Gary Whild's Redditch United.
It was whilst with the Reds that he earned another crack at life with his hometown club as City took him back on trial - this time he landed a six-month contract which was extended last summer.
Last season he failed to turn out for the Leicester first team but he gained some valuable experience whilst out on loan at Crewe Alexandra, where he played seven times. In March, he was back out on temporary terms, this time in the Blue Square Premier with Histon.
Handed a new deal at the Walkers Stadium in the closed-season, the highly-rated 6'1'' midfielder finally made his debut at his parent club with an appearance in the Carling Cup win over Macclesfield.
"I watched Aman play for Histon a few times last season and I was always very impressed with him," boss Burr told harriers.co.uk.
"He likes to play in the middle but he can also play up front, he's a player who really likes to get forward.
"Leicester took him while he'd been playing for Gary a couple of years ago and we know a lot about what he can do."
Aman signed his loan forms at Aggborough before training today (Friday) and takes the squad number 21 ahead of the weekend.
