For one day only there was a new Sheriff in town for Kidderminster Harriers today - as midfielder Chris McPhee took charge of training!
The 27 year-old is in the process of completing coaching badges and, as useful experience exercise, was offered the chance to run the show on Thursday.
Speaking to harriers.co.uk, boss Steve Burr revealed that he and the entire squad thoroughly enjoyed the former Weymouth man's programme - even if it was at the cost of the usual banter, with the Harriers camp in particularly lively mood.
"Chris put a session on for the boys today and it was thoroughly enjoyable," said Burr.
"He's going through his coaching badges at the minute and I asked him if he'd like to do something with the lads.
"It was a really good session and really varied, though obviously he got plenty of stick from the rest of the squad.
"He said he was a bit nervous before hand and there is absolutely no hiding place from some of the boys we have here now!
"It was good for him and good for the team as well - I know Chris really enjoyed doing it and so did the rest of them; the atmosphere around the place is excellent. They come in, get down to some hard work on the training ground and really enjoy it."
Even with McPhee at the helm, training was as focused as ever on the next job in hand - this weekend's trip to Newport County.
Ahead of the tie, the gaffer admits he's a great lover of variation on the training ground as the best way to keep his troops keen and ready to go.
He adds: "The one thing about being involved with a full-time club is that you have to keep things fresh.
"It can be difficult at times but I have always been a believer in it.
"There's nothing worse - and I remember it well - than coming in and doing the same things every day and having it become a routine.
"It can become a bit of a plod so if you keep things bright and fresh then the lads really get into it and look forward to training and everything is geared to what we want to do on a Saturday."
