There's a 'shady' deal going down at Kidderminster Harriers this season - though you needn't be concerned, as all players and supporters are set to benefit!
Dollond and Aitchison Opticians of Worcester Street, Kidderminster, have continued their support of the club by renewing their sponsorship of the match day programme at Aggborough Stadium for a second year.
To celebrate, they're rolling out the benefits to not just those on the terraces, but to those in the changing room as well.
Through vouchers in the club's programme, fans can already get money off eye tests and 20% off the price of glasses - but to help celebrate the continuation of the partnership that has seen the company pledge a four-figure sum to Harriers since the beginning of last season, they've decided to get those on the pitch involved, too.
A special package for Harriers players and management includes discounts on prescription sunglasses, plus free contact lens assessments and trials.
Manager Steve Burr and assistant boss Gary Whild, along with goalkeeper Daniel Lewis and defender Mike Williams were at the D&A store located at 6 Carlton House in Worcester Street this week to try out some of the shades. "We're grateful for all the support we get from local business and obviously the staff at D&A have connections with the club going back a while, so it's great to be working with them."
The club's programme editor, Matt Wall added: "D&A have shown us fantastic support since coming on board and although we're obviously delighted to be working with such an established brand, the local connection is every bit as important to us.
"Their current advertising campaign already offers anyone with a current match programme some fantastic savings, but they've found a way to get the players involved - particularly with the shades - which is superb."
D&A Kidderminster is a franchise owned by Stephanie Searl and Julia Price (a mother and daughter partnership). Julia believes the companies work in the community is vitally important and sees being associated with the Harriers as an important part of this.
"We were very pleased to renew our partnership with the Harriers for another season and believe the offers to supporters and now the players and staff alike are beneficial to all parties involved," commented Julia.
The store recently won the Regional Franchise of the Year award and this is a proud achievement for all those involved. Julia added: "We've come long way in our first two years and the recent award is recognition of this."
