NEW SITE - HAVE YOUR SAY

Posted on: Thu 26 Jan 2012

As users of our official Facebook and Twitter platforms may have spotted, a brand new official website for Kidderminster Harriers is on the way.

Football League Interactive (FLi) - the network of websites of which we've remained a part since our return to non-league - are planning a move away to current service providers, Perform, and are in the process of constructing new websites for all 80+ Premier League, Football League and non-league clubs.

That means harriers.co.uk will be replaced by a new site; hopefully in time for the new 2012/13 campaign and it should be the most interactive one yet.

Discussions are underway as to how big a part video and audio content should play in the new site - supporters will be aware that video is provided only on a limited, free basis at the present moment as opposed to the full 'Player' subscription service that features audio commentaries, match highlights and video interviews throughout the season (for instance, all League teams have their highlights centrally produced and made available without lifting a finger!)

Issues over facilities and resources mean that a large number of the non-league FLi are only able to offer these services intermittently during a season whilst still charging a subscription fee. We'd like to gauge the opinion of Harriers fans as to what level of service they would be willing to pay for.

It would be possible that more frequent video content from around the club and training ground along with more regular match highlights and commentaries are made available on 'Harriers Player' - even if on some occasions circumstances some elements are unavailable.

Media Officer Matt Wall commented: "We haven't felt comfortable up to now charging any sort of subscription fee to supporters unless we could provide the full package, week in, week out.

"However we have noticed that some other clubs in this division are finding that supporters - in the absence of having content provided elsewhere - are happy enough to pay their subscriptions each month in return content almost on an as-and-when basis.

"We're quite confident that we could provide more video content each and every week and are exploring options for match commentary; highlights, too, are also reasonably regular so it may well be we have something to offer.

"We'd just be keen to know if there would be any takers."

So the question is simple - would you be willing to back the return of Harriers Player for a subscription fee?

Nothing as yet is decided or set in stone, but all feedback would be greatly appreciated - you can start by casting your vote in the simple web poll here.

If you have any further comments, thoughts and suggestions you can always e-mail Matt here.
