Captain Mike Williams says he feels his side deserved a share of the spoils against his former club Wrexham at Aggborough on Tuesday night.
The one-time Dragon admitted it was a tough night's work against one of the teams fancied for the title.
But he rued a lapse in concentration in injury time at the end of the first half that saw visiting player-boss Andy Morrell strike for the all-important goal.
Speaking after the game he was satisfied he'd given his former employers a run for their money and says Harriers still aren't far off where they want to be.
"Especially after coming off the back of a draw against Lincoln, we felt we needed to start getting a run together," he reflected.
"We came up against Wrexham and it was a tough game but we did well against them.
"We went a little bit direct tonight and things could have been a lot different.
"I think we definitely deserved a point; we lost a bit of concentration at the end of the first half and in the second we penned them in.
"It just didn't drop for us - we had Jack Byrne's header off the bar and a few other chances so to come away with nothing is disappointing.
"But as we've said in the changing room there are 13 games left now and if we carry on like that I am sure we'll be there or there abouts."
