Gary Whild - Assistant Manager

Posted on: Thu 13 Oct 2011

An expert of the local non-league football scene, Gary Whild joined Harriers as assistant boss in the summer of 2010.

Whild, a player in non-league with the likes of Stratford and Moor Green, began his managerial career with Stourport Swifts, working as assistant to Rod Brown before the pair departed on the back of two promotions to Redditch United in 2000; with Whild again Brown's number two.

The duo helped steer United up the footballing pyramid into what is now the Blue Square Bet North - Whild eventually taking up the reins as manager of the Reds back in 2005/06.

Since then he has worked relatively miracles, continually achieving survival on limited resources, as well as some notable FA Cup runs. During his time at the Valley, Redditch have helped mould the careers of many name; the likes of Mark Creighton, Exodus Geohaghon, Scott Dan and our own Jack Byrne all coming through their ranks before going on to make big impressions in across non-league and the Football League.

After departing his post as Redditch boss at the end of last season, Whild has moved quickly to secure a new role as assistant to Burr at Aggborough for the 2010/11 season onwards.
