PREVIEW: Eastbourne v Harriers

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010

Harriers will welcome back striker James Lawrie as they look to keep up their unbeaten run away at Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier tomorrow.

The Northern Ireland International missed Tuesday's draw with Ebbsfleet as he featured in his country's U21 fixture in San Marino - the on loan Port Vale man grabbing a goal as they ran out 3-0 winners.

He's now linked back up with his Aggborough team mates with the squad set to travel on Friday in preparation for tomorrow's fixture.

Lawrie, as well as substitutes Marc Goodfellow and Adam Boyes will be pushing for starts at Priory Lane on Saturday.

Winger Goodfellow and front-man Boyes both made a big impact in our midweek game - the latter eventually setting up Brian Smikle's equalising goal.

Missing, however, will be assistant boss and influential midfielder John Finnigan (calf) as he rests an injury. Dean Coleman (groin) remains out.

New signing Jack Byrne will be in the squad and will compete with the likes of Marcus Bignot to replace Finnigan should a switch be like for like.

The hosts, meanwhile, will miss Darren Baker following his red card against Stevenage and subsequent suspension but they'll welcome back striker Andy Atkin.

Harriers, still unbeaten under Steve Burr and in 2010, face a tricky test to stretch that run further on Saturday as they come up against an Eastbourne side stung for six against title-chasing Borough in midweek.

The manager repeated his warning ahead of the tie, but still expects his troops to go all out in search of more valuable points for the club's play-off push.

"It's like any game - I always look at the next game as being the biggest one," he commented.

"We're playing Eastbourne on the back of a 6-0 defeat and I know they'll be coming out with a point to prove.

"We're in for a tough game but if we're going to push on into the play-offs then we'll have to look to come back with three points."

Kick-off tomorrow is at 3:00pm.
