Harriers and Fleetwood Town will have to do it all again this coming Tuesday night to qualify for the FA Cup as neither side managed to break the deadlock in a dour game at Aggborough on Saturday.

The contest started brightly with an early chance each, Sean Clancy firing off target for the visitors shortly before David McDermott did the same for Harriers in some fine autumn sunshine in Worcestershire.

It was a wasteful first 20 minutes from both sides - confident Fleetwood passed themselves into some good positions but never came close to seriously testing Dean Coleman - Harriers had a chance to work his opposite number Danny Hurst on 19 minutes but Matthew Barnes-Homer's free-kick was equally wayward.

A dead ball on 25 saw Harriers go closer as an effort from Darryl Knights rose well before dipping a little too late to find the target. Three further along, Hurst was forced into a good stop as the first real surging passing move saw Brian Smikle hit the target.

That move seemed to spark the hosts into a little more life as they began to explore the flanks, John Finnigan's 33rd minute shot was worth a go but lacked any real direction, whilst Chris McPhee saw a header saved soon after.

With a lack of any real action from open play it was again down to the dead ball for Harriers to work a chance on the stroke of half time - after David McDermott had been flipped up in the air, McPhee's diving header sailed over the bar.

The second half was slower to get going but the fist chance of it came on 51 minutes as Finnigan blazed wide after being teed up on the edge of the area. Within seconds Finnigan was in trouble after he was robbed of possession inside the Harriers half - the visitors broke at pace but Tom Cahill's side-foot shot was blocked well by Coleman.

A minute before the hour there was still no sign of a breakthrough - the visitors determined to defend in massive numbers and hit on the counter with real speed - Smikle and Lee Baker hit off target for Mark Yates' men with the game crying out for a moment of quality.

A fizzed free kick saw Town's Nathan Pond hurl himself at the ball as it came across the box - his header looked to have beaten Coleman but thankfully for the stopper flew just wide.

The incisive, splitting play that's frequented Harriers' games recently wasn't present enough in this fixture but it made a fleeting return on 69 minutes as great move saw McPhee play in a Knights with a lofted cross, but the front-man was just beaten to it by some desperate defending.

On 7 7minutes Martin Riley will have been breathing a sigh of relief - his poor back-header aimed at Coleman fell squarely for Clancy who took a touch some 30 yards from goal before lobbing a ball goalwards that the stopper did superbly well to tip onto the bar and over. Within seconds Fleetwood had struck the post as Harriers just failed to deal with them.

Hurst must have been eager to avoid being out-done, as on 83 minutes Gavin Caines forced him into a superb save as his drive from 18 yards was palmed just over the cross bar, clipping the woodwork as it went.

There was a bizarre and costly moment that left Aggborough stunned in injury time - skipper McPhee went in late on Jamie McGuire in a foul that looked set to be punished by a talking to, only for the referee to brandish a straight red.

The final whistle was celebrated by the 220 away fans but cursed by those in the home ends, away to Fleetwood we go on Tuesday night as Aggborough saw its first shut-out of the season.
