Robbie Matthews hit a late goal to send Harriers within one round of Wembley Stadium as Harriers booked a place in the FA Trophy semi-finals with an excellent 2-1 win at Oxford United on Saturday.
It was a lively start to the game from the visitors and within two minutes they worked themselves a really good chance - a superb ball from Dean Bennett on the edge of the area found Darryl Knights square on, who lofted a first-time effort just over Billy Turley's upright.
With nine minutes on the clock there was early work to do for young debutant Harriers goalkeeper Ross Atkins - first he did superbly to palm away Simon Clist's driven effort as the away side struggled to keep United at bay, and just moments later it was a display of excellent reactions from the Derby youngster as he saved from Jake Wright at point-blank range.
On 16 minutes a small corner of the Kassam Stadium erupted as Harriers took the lead with a superb counter-attacking move. After the hosts wasted a corner, then men in red broke to devastating effect as Knights released Bennett; the midfielder teased his man in the area before slipping the ball to Brian Smikle who slotted into the back of the net.
Moments later it was almost two as Damian Spencer's header from a free-kick went just wide, whilst Oxford remained ever-dangerous at the other end as Chris McPhee's defensive header almost went past his own goalkeeper before bouncing off the bar.
Three minutes after the half hour it was once more Spencer causing the Yellows some problems as he rose to meet a ball in the area - unfortunately for the loanee it was all power and little direction as the ball again sailed away from the target.
The half-time whistle perhaps came at an ideal time for the visiting side as Oxford edged themselves further and further into the tie as the first 45 drew to a close, however the second began in a flash for both as good attacking moves forced early corners.
The inevitable spell of pressure early in the second period came for the home side and ex-Harriers captain Mark Creighton almost had them level as he headed a 54th minute corner just wide.
Five after the hour that pressure eventually broke Harriers' resolve - the former Aggborough combo of Creighton and James Constable worked the ball into the area and, after a collision between Martin Riley and goalkeeper Atkins, Matt Green was able to nip in and finish into the empty net.
In the minutes following the goal there was a double change for Harriers - Marcus Bignot came on for a return debut as he replaced Bennett, whilst Robbie Matthews came on for Darryl Knights.
Green must have though he'd won it for Oxford as the ball came free to him in the area with ten minutes to go - the front man pulled the trigger but an effort that looked destined for at least the target was inadvertently blocked by Creighton.
As a draw looked to be on the cards, Harriers again rocked the Kassam Stadium with 84 minutes on the clock - superb work from Smikle out-wide saw him thread the ball through the eye of a needle along the six yard-box where sub Robbie Matthews, just eleven minutes after his arrival, was waiting to finish into the roof of the net - cue delight from the 400 plus away fans.

As the game entered four minutes of stoppage time, the tireless Spencer could have made it 3-1 as Matthews turned provider to pick him out at the far post - the forward had time and space but sent his header narrowly wide.

Potentially just 180 minutes from Wembley, they believe - do you?
