PREVIEW: Harriers v WBA

Posted on: Fri 24 Jul 2009

Harriers will tackle West Bromwich Albion at Aggborough tonight in their penultimate home pre-season friendly (7:30pm).

Mark Yates has seen his side negotiate through the warm up campaign unbeaten so far, with victories over Bromyard, Bewdley, Stourport and Hereford as well as a draw against Wolves.

Tonight will likely be another tough test - the Baggies will send a youthful XI to Aggborough, packed with players with more than a little bit to prove.

New professionals Paul Downing, Josh Knight, Romaine Sawyers and Lateef Elford-Alliyu will supplement the trio of Chris Wood, Joss Labadie and David Worrall, who all have league experience.

For Harriers it will be another chance to continue establishing themselves as a team unit - yesterday's new signing Aaron Farrell is likely to be involved as well as the other 11 contracted players at Aggborough plus remaining trialists.

"The aim is for some of the boys to get under 90 minutes under their belts, we shall have a look at people and see where we are," commented Yates, who is now narrowing down his squad with the start of the season proper just over two weeks away.

One man keen to impress for Harriers is one of those on contract - ex-Baggies boy Lee Baker.

Left-back Baker featured in an Albion exhibition game at Aggborough roughly this time last year before eventually signing on loan as a Kidderminster - his deal later becoming permanent. He'll go up against more than a couple of familiar faces from his time at the Hawthorns.

Meanwhile, keep your eyes peeled tonight for your chance to be a winner in KHIST's excellent Aggborough Hospitality Raffle. Sellers will be on hand armed with tickets that, at just £2 each, could net you some fantastic prizes - among them an Executive Box for a League fixture next term.

Kick-off tonight is at 7:30pm - keep an eye on harriers.co.uk for Live team news and match updates with a full report to follow after the final whistle.
