Boss Steve Burr praised his whole squad for a good pre-season's work after they rounded off the summer campaign with a 4-2 win at Rugby Town on Saturday.
Two goals in each half from the men in red ensured the campaign ended on the finest possible note ahead of the huge League opener against Gateshead at Aggborough in just a week's time.
Speaking to harriers.co.uk straight after the final whistle at Butlin Road, Burr reflected positively on an lengthy run of outings.
Noting the start of the season in most of England today, he admitted his players are now just counting down the days before they too can begin the action proper.
He said: "It was another good work-out for us but you look at the Football League starting today and, for a lot of our lads, we were just chomping at the bit to get started this afternoon.
"But we've got another week to prepare and there were some good performances out there again.
"We've got 12 new lads in [this summer] and I think we are stronger- it will pan out over the first five or six games of the season as to how good we are or what we need to do to improve.
"We just have to try and get off to the best possible start we can but we have a squad of players, all of whom have done well during pre-season."
Callum Gittings caught the eye against Rugby with a fine second half performance, including the side's third goal.
Burr hurled a few plaudits the way of the former Alvechurch man who is finding form at just the right time after missing a week or so of action with an Achilles injury recently.
"It was a fantastic performance from Callum," he added.
"Players can play themselves out of the team and can also push themselves into the starting line-up and Callum has done himself absolutely no harm at all; I thought he was outstanding."
