BOSS Mark Yates was pleased with last night's performance against Burton Albion at Aggborough but admitted his side perhaps could have killed off the Brewers to record victory.

In the end a decent game finished 0-0 under the floodlights last night and whilst the Aggborough Chief was pleased with the performance shown by his players - a vast improvement on the games at Tamworth and St. Albans - he was seemingly a little frustrated that one of Harriers' many chances didn't end up in the back of Kevin Poole's net.

"Nigel will probably say a draw was a fair result but I think we probably deserved to win," said Yates, after the game.

"I thought some of the stuff we played in the first half was a great advertisement for Conference football and the lads can be proud of themselves - their 'keeper has pulled off two or three terrific saves but that's been the story of our season to be honest, not quite finishing off games when perhaps we could do.

"But I'm not too downhearted because I thought the boys were excellent."

Looking ahead to the weekend's game against Northwich at Aggborough, Yates agreed his side need a victory to kick life back into their late Play-Off push.

He continued: "We've really got to try and get three points from Saturday now, it's wins we need at the moment and - we haven't given up hope and we know we're capable of going on a run like we've proved in the past and that'll be the aim between now and the end of the season.

Reminder: Harriers reserves travel to Stafford Rangers tonight, 7:45pm kick-off.
