BOSS Mark Yates has confirmed that three members of the Harriers' squad will be as fit and raring to go as the rest of their team mates following routine summer operations for the trio.

Manager Yates now settled back in the country after a deserved fortnight on holiday with his family.

Whilst keeping his ear firmly to the ground in terms of checking on goings on back at Aggborough during his absence, Yates admitted Assistant boss Neil Howarth played a big part in certain dealings.

"It was nice and it was important I re-charged my batteries and spent a bit of time with my family," he told harriers.co.uk.

"Fortunately, Neil was here all the time and fielded everything that needing doing and I'm very grateful for that - he finalised everything with the Justin Richards deal and it was great he was here."

Yates and Howarth are now both fully re-charged ahead of the new-season with the players set to return for pre-season training next Wednesday.

They're all likely to have been already involved in some sort of work-out programmes of their own ahead of the re-start, not least three members of the squad who went under the knife this summer.

Captain Stuart Whitehead along with strikers Iyseden Christie and James Constable all had relatively minor operations that the lengthy summer break is so good at facilitating.

Whitehead and Christie both had clean-up ops on respective ankles whilst Constable needed surgery to ease a hernia problem.

They've all been worked hard over the past few weeks by physio Ian Foster, however, and should all be ready to join in with full training next week.

Yates added: "Everybody in the squad will be fit and ready for the first day of pre-season training next Wednesday.

"Iyseden is at Lilleshall this week working hard, getting some mobility back into his ankle, the surgeon had to quite a bit of clearing up on it.

"There's absolutely no problem with Stu Whitehead and James, Fozzy has had them in for the last week or so and they'll get some rest now before the lads come back.

"These were operations that footballers often get in the summer, as soon as that last game finishes you tend to be in and getting any clear-out and repair stuff done."
