Boss Slams Team After Howler
MARK Yates has lashed out at his side for conceding 'another stupid goal' against Crawley Town today.
Guy Madjo was the latest player to take full advantage of a rather charitable Kidderminster outfit, catching goalkeeper Chris MacKenzie out cold late in the game.
MacKenzie rolled the ball out to his feet without noticing the striker behind him, allowing the Crawley man an easy goal.
But rather than pointing the finger and aiming all the blame at the shot-stopper, Yates defended the on-loan Shrewsbury man and hit out at the rest of his side for failing to even warn him of the situation.
After the 1-1 encounter, Yates commented: "I actually don't blame Chris. Chris is unaware [Madjo] is there and the back-four have just left him - they should be telling him.
"Chris and a lot of goalkeepers will roll the ball out... I was talking to Neil at the time and I heard Fozzy shouting 'behind you!' but that should be coming from the players - It's a poor state of affairs.
"It was a bad goal and we didn't deserve that - we looked like we could and should have ground out a 1-0 victory, Crawley didn't really trouble us and it's disappointing.
"It'll come - I'm sure of that, we'll just keep plugging away but we can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot - this was a game we should have won."
Harriers will be in training on Sunday morning as they look to make amends immediately on Tuesday night when Halifax visit Aggborough.
A crazy Blue Square Premier has seen defeats for the likes of Torquay and Oxford today, and luckily Harriers can still move to within a one place of the play-off spots with a maximum return against the Shaymen.
"We're in tomorrow to make sure we're ready for Halifax," added Yates.
"I've told them, we have to win on Tuesday. We need three points and we need them against Halifax.
"It won't be easy but with the right application and attitude and a decent performance we can get them."
