Yates: We Worked Our Socks Off
A positive Harriers' boss Mark Yates spoke after today's defeat at Aldershot and saw plenty of positives to take from the afternoon.
The Shots eventually extended their lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier to eight points with a 2-1, but were given a real game by a Harriers side who took the lead at the Recreation Ground.
Even after losing their lead and indeed going behind, the visitors remained defiant and performed at a level far above that of recent weeks, which understandably pleased Manager Yates.
"We caused a team that are running away with the league a lot of problems," he said.
"With a bit more quality in the first half I felt we could've been two or three goals ahead.
"We switched off once in the second half and that killed us, but we deserved something out of the game.
"Credit to Aldershot, they showed why they're top of the league, and good luck to them."
Harriers now go on to Aggborough on Tuesday night where they'll meet Stafford Rangers in what's promising to be a very tasty local derby.
Yates continued: "We've got to just work that little bit harder and believe in what we're doing.
"Aldershot are the best team in the league and they created very little against us because we came and worked our socks off - the work-rate and the effort was fantastic.
"We just have to keep working on the training ground to eradicate those basic errors - it's a big game and a local derby on Tuesday now and if the players take forward this effort into the 90 minutes then we know we'll be alright."
