Mark Yates rated his side's performance against Grays today as better than the 6-0 crushing of Stafford in midweek, admitting it caps a 'decent' week for the club.

This afternoon was always going to be a test of the mettle for Harriers, who were always going to be pressured into performing against Grays after brushing Stafford aside so effortlessly.

And, to borrow a phrase from another manager this evening, this game would easily go down as a '1-0 slapping' for Harriers, who easily bossed proceedings from start to finish.

Speaking after the game, boss Yates commented: "It's been a decent week - bar the result at Aldershot we were excellent.

"Tuesday was good, and to me today was probably even better.

"Grays are a good side- they beat Torquay 2-0 last Saturday - it was never going to be easy, but we worked hard and did the right thing at the right time and look like we have goals in us.

"We've got a back-four that doesn't look like it's going to concede goals and perhaps the only thing for me was that we didn't take enough of our good chances; but I don't criticise people for missing chances as long as we keep getting them."

The start to March has been a marked improvement to Harriers in almost every department in comparison to the lost month of February, with these two wins coming on the back of a fine showing at Aldershot last weekend.

Yates went on to agree that his side have come in for some deserved criticism at stages this season, but added this win can only help bring more through the turnstiles.

"Nobody likes getting stick, but we're big enough and we don't hide - if it's deserved, we'll take it, that's fine," he continued.

"But the supporters here have been superb. Of course, we'd like more but if we keep putting in good performances, they'll be coming."

The Aggborough chief went on: "We're trying to put in decent performances and we've got a good game to look forward to next Thursday now.

"If we play with the confidence and belief, and work rate we've shown, we'll go down there and get a positive result."
