A happy Mark Yates praises his team's cutting edge as they thumped Crawley Town 4-0 in the Blue Square Premier.

Speaking to harriers.co.uk today, Yates said of last night's game: "They missed a decent chance early on when we had a miscommunication at the back but after that we were excellent and it was a very good performance.

"We played some good football and we forced them into some mistakes.

"I can't remember too many games where we've been battered or outplayed but too many times we haven't picked up enough points because at both ends of the pitch we haven't been ruthless enough.

"Last night we created a lot of chances and scored some good goals, and Chris MacKenzie made some saves in the first half but after that, Deano had very little to do after he came on."

It was another success for Yates' 4-3-3/4-3-1-2 formation, with Darryl Knights impressing and both Iyseden Christie and Matthew Barnes-Homer amongst the goals.

He added: "It's worked and we've got the players to play it and it's something we'll look at towards next season but it has been a good eye-opener for us.

"But even though it's a more attacking formation, it's still about the whole team working hard and doing the right things at the right time - we're keeping clean sheets, for instance, and next season it's got to be about that from the start."
