Manager Mark Yates has praised his side for putting bodies on the line to secure a fourth straight victory in the Blue Square Premier tonight.

Harriers overcame Ebbsfleet United 2-1 at Aggborough thanks to goals from Iyseden Christie and Russell Penn.

But after playing some great flowing football in the first half, Yates admitted that his side's ability to do the ugly things required to get a win was just as vital.

"They're a big strong side and they cause teams problems," said Yates.

"But we stood up and headed it when it needed to be headed.

"It isn't always about playing pretty football, and we have done that, but it's also about putting bodies on the line and defending and we did that."

Moving into April, Harriers are coming through the back end of a real fixture backlog, with the forthcoming month only slightly a lighter schedule than the last fortnight.

Despite tiring at the end, Harriers did come bursting out of the blocks once again, and their bright start was a real foundation for the win, as Yates went on:

"It's been a really heavy week and it's been really hard work for the players but they've dug in deep tonight and showed what they're capable of doing," he added.

"Good starts are vital, even if you don't score early; it's so much easier to kick-on.

"It gives players confidence and you saw that in first half, we played some good stuff and the first goal was great from all of the forwards and Iyseden finished it well."

Altrincham boss Graham Heathcote brings his Altrincham side to Aggborough on Saturday after being in the stands this evening.

Yates continued: "I saw Graham here tonight and I know he'll come here on Saturday and try and disrupt us and get three points for his team.

"We know if we keep trying to be bright and sharp and inventive and stay on our game, we can beat most teams."
