Harriers signed off another home campaign in the best possible way Burton Albion last night - that was the verdict of boss Mark Yates after the game.

The side picked up their 12th home victory of the season by thumping Nigel Clough's Albion 4-1.

Goals from Darryl Knights (2), Iyseden Christie and Gavin Hurren ensured that Harriers head into the season's final game at Woking with a chance to finish eighth in the Blue Square Premier.

Speaking after the game, boss Yates afforded himself a deserved smile before admitting: "We were good tonight, weren't we?

"For ten minutes it was a bit like a testimonial game - quiet and bit lacklustre - and I thought we needed to increase the tempo.

"We did that, and were unplayable at times - the front-three were excellent and all of the boys can be pleased with their performance.

"It was the best way to go out in front of our home fans."

Yates again faced the fact that Harriers, despite their dominance over most in the division over the last two months, failed to achieve over the season as a whole.

But he praised the belief within his squad and stated he'll be doing all he can to keep the current momentum running at Aggborough until August rolls around.

"We kept believing that the basis was here and we've proved that over the past couple of months," he continued.

"We're a good side; we just haven't done it enough.

"The last couple of months have given us a great deal of confidence and belief and we've now got to try and keep as many of these players as we can and have a real go for it next season."

Harriers travel to Woking's Kingfield Stadium this coming Saturday, set once again to be backed by a decent away following.

Yates added: "Bar 20 minutes or so at Weymouth I've been delighted with the football over the last couple of months.

"We've played and produced, and we've scored some great goals; and we have to take those positives and learn from the mistakes we have made.

"We'll go down there to Woking on Saturday determined to make it to 70 points."
