MARK Yates has praised the never-say-die attitude of his squad as they twice came from behind to pick up a deserved draw away at Burton Albion.

Nigel Clough's Brewers led twice through goals from Greg Pearson and John Brayford but efforts from Matthew Barnes-Homer and Luke Jones ensured that the points were shared at the Pirelli.

Yates was, on the whole, a happy man at the final whistle. Despite admitting his fury at conceding within moments of first claiming an equaliser, the Manager was pleased with the way his troops continued to toil away at the task.

He reflected: "It was a decent game of football, particularly in the first-half.

"I thought both teams were trying to get the ball down, attack and score goals.

"They actually scored their goal from us having our best opportunity.

"Britt delivered a ball in that's been cleared and two minutes later it's in the back of our net, which was a bit disappointing.

"Second half, we kept plugging away but looked like we were losing a bit of belief so we changed it a bit.

"We got the goal and then I had a moment of madness when they scored - I wasn't happy at all.

"The adage is that you're at your most vunerable when you've just scored and I just can't believe how naive we are at times.

"But credit to them - their attitude is great and their determination to succeed is the best, and it's going to have to be.

"We'll keep demanding it of them but they showed today that they have got the never-say-die attitude, they can play good football and that we can score goals.

"If we keep doing that throughout the season then we'll be okay."

Harriers seem to be moving more freely now after a sticky start to the campaign - there are plenty of positives to take from the Bank Holiday weekend, namely a four-point return from the two fixtures, and a second goal of the season for striker Barnes-Homer.

Yates went on to add: "I'm delighted that Barnsey got his goal because he'd had a couple of chances that he felt he should have done better with but he kept plugging away.

"It shows the spirit within the squad - they believe.

"Five points from five games is not necessarily what we want but we've had some tough fixtures within that.

"We can move on now and look to Rushden at home at the weekend - we'll be ready."
