NEIL HOWARTH has warned that there will be no knee-jerk reaction to Harriers first home defeat of the season against Barrow on Saturday.
The Blue Square Premier new-boys took all three points with a 1-0 win with Mark Boyd becoming just the second opposition player to score at Aggborough this term.
Speaking after the game, Assistant Manager Neil Howarth admitted that there's a lot of frustration within the camp, but pointed out that the one of the league's most in-form sides haven't become a lesser outfit on the basis of this single reverse.
"It was massively frustrating," said Howarth.
"I've had that many people come up to me in the week and say 'we've won four on the bounce, they've lost four on the bounce; it's going to be their day.'
"We've done everything we could to guard against it, but we gave a bad goal away early on and that gave Barrow something to hold on to.
"We've been knocking on the door for 85 minutes but couldn't knock it down.
"We have to be better - we have to show more quality and our better players have to be better on the ball to unlock defences when we're a goal behind.
"Of course we're disappointed to have lost, but we aren't going to over-react.
"The players who have been doing things right don't become bad players just because of one performance."
Howarth went on to reveal that the players had held something of a post-mortem of their own in the dressing room following the defeat, with he and Mark Yates able to take a step back to an extent.
But the Management will be looking for an immediate response as Harriers travel to Northwich Victoria on Tuesday evening (7:45pm).
"The lads are very disappointed in the dressing room," he continued.
"On days like this we don't need to say much as a Management team, it's the players who get on with it and ask questions of themselves and its good that they're doing that.
"We have a big game on Tuesday now and we want to go there and win - we want to stay as high in the table as we can and we want to get back on a winning run."
