HOWARTH: Harriers 'Playing Instinctively'

Posted on: Sat 21 Mar 2009

Assistant boss Neil Howarth admits Harriers are finding form in the Blue Square Premier at an ideal time after Saturday's 3-0 win over Woking.

The comfortable victory was the club's third in succession - their recent form highlighted by the fact that they've not conceded a single goal since the 3-1 home defeat to Cambridge last month.

Reflecting back on today's game, Howarth said: "Woking are a very difficult side to play against, they don't concede many goals and they're tough to break down.

"They've got a couple of strong lads at the back and they're well organised.

"Once we got that first goal, though, and they had to come out and attack us a little bit more we were just able to exploit the gaps and control the game."

He went on to point out that the main difference between the Harriers side that started the New Year and the one that came off the field this afternoon is simply a good dose of confidence.

"It's amazing what a bit of confidence does for people - they're just playing instinctively at the moment," he continued.

"They're playing and passing when they should do, dribbling when they should be and shooting when they should be whereas when things aren't going right people tend to make the wrong decisions.

"At the moment things are going well."

The win rounded off an impressive week for the club - the troops were in fine form on the training field as they continued to carry out their positive approach into matches.

"This week in training they've just been outstanding," added Howarth.

"It's the best we've trained all season, they look fresh and hungry.

"It's all about decisions and it's a good time of the season to start hitting a bit of form."
