Harriers Youth fell to defeat in their second game of the season on Thursday night, going down 2-1 at Coventry Sphinx.
A strong Coventry side started the game well in difficult, blustery conditions and got their rewards with the opening goal around the half-hour mark.
A well-delivered free-kick was drilled into the box and an initial effort was saved well by Haydn Whitcombe between the sticks, only for the re-bound to be stabbed home.
The lead didn't last long, however, as the visitors started to find their way into the contest. Within five minutes they were on level terms, Andrew Kenny getting up well to head home a corner.
Harriers ended the first half on top but didn't repeat those heights in the second period as the home side began to re-take control.
The deciding blow and winning goal came for the Sphinx around ten minutes from time as a corner was whipped in and miss-hit on the volley, the effort finding the back of the net when arguably a well-struck effort would've found the back of the stand.
Speaking about the defeat, Coach Dave Edge told harriers.co.uk: "I can't fault the work ethic and the commitment from the lads, there are no issues there.
"But I was disappointed that for much of the second half we spent a lot of time watching things happen and letting them happen and that is something we'll keep working on when we're on the training ground and we'll improve."
